Basically I don't have my original Playstation anymore but I do have a PAL PS2-Slim with the sensors taped back to play backup PSX games. I noticed that NTSC region games only play in 3 quarters of the screen. So looking for a solution I found this. Here's how to use it:- After blocking the sensors on your PS2-Slim Insert an original PSX game Disc swap at the old PS screen and put the region switch disc in Set option to PAL Hit start game Insert the backup game you wish to play and hit X *The game should now play in the correct video mode. (not sure if this works the other way round ie. PAL->NTSC I'd imagine it does)
